Looking around and seeing the vivid colors of all different types of flowers that blossom.

All of these things would not be possible without the two eyes that are connected to the occipital lobe in the brain. Furthermore, without ophthalmologists, many individuals would not be able to witness these things everyday. Sight is something that many people take for granted, but I am not one of those people. I recognize the power that exists in our eyes: the plethora of information that we can see and use as cues for how to act, how to live, and how to be. Realizing the value and importance of the eyes is what motivates my desire to become an ophthalmologist, or eye surgeon, to ensure that everyone has this ability to witness all of the greatness and beauty that life has to offer.
