Eligibility | Staff positions are open to MiW and non-MiW students alike.
Process | Anyone who attends 3+ consecutive meetings and actively contributes is considered a staff member (but can forfeit their position if 2+ consecutive meetings are missed, at the e-board’s discretion).
E–board | E-board members will be nominated and elected by the previous year’s e-board.
Art and Design | Our wonderful Art and Design chair Brooks is graduating W2020, and we will definitely need someone to fill this position for the 2020-2021 school year. If you have some interest or experience with Canva, InDesign, or other graphic design software, please reach out!
Responsibilities include designing and being a major proponent of the production of the end-of-year publication.
General staff | Since we’re still a pretty small, young org, we would love anyone and everyone who’s interested in working on the journal! General members do a little bit of everything; from content curation to copy-editing to general ops.
Our team is comprised of students in the Sweetland Minor in Writing program at the University of Michigan.
Caitlyn Zawideh | Editor in Chief
Caitlyn is a senior and an English major with minors in Computer Science, Digital Studies, and Writing. Her reason for writing can be summed up in this quote by Flannery O’Conner: “I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.” When Caitlyn isn’t writing, she occasionally ventures into the outside world to see a movie or even go hiking.
Aylin Gunal | Operations
Aylin is a senior studying Data Science with a minor in Writing. She writes because it frees up space in her mind. In her free time, she likes watching British TV (TaskMaster right now) and making different kinds of veggie burgers.
Aria Gerson | Communications
Aria Gerson is a junior studying Political Science with minors in History and Writing. She writes because it’s how she makes sense of everything going on around her. Outside of Writer to Writer, she covers Michigan football for the Michigan Daily and local arts events for Arts at Michigan.
Sydney Wagner | Submissions
Madi Altman | Secretary
Madi is a freshman in the Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. She writes as a way to express how she feels––sometimes all of her thoughts are jumbled in her head, so writing is a cathartic way to clarify her thoughts and feelings. Fun fact: she was a ballet dancer and spent about 6 years en pointe.
